WE ARE:
A little Canadian family adventuring in home school, urban farming, and creative pursuits.

We hope you will find us on a farm some day, raising our own food and fuel and living a more sustainable life.
In the meantime, we are students, raising four young children, doing a PhD, home schooling, gardening, herbal simpling, writing, making music, growing vegetables, and painting.
This blog is a digital notebook of our days as we bumble along.
THE FLYING INN:
The Flying Inn is named after the outlaws in G.K. Chesterton's wonderful little novel The Flying Inn. Pursued over the English country-side, they carry a flagstaff with an inn sign (the old ship) to show that wherever it is planted, rum and cheese will be served. The old ship comes to represent independence from the puritanical, modern regime that is trying to destroy the independence of families and small businesses.

Will and I have romantically imagined our family as a flying inn, on the run culturally, but a haven (we hope!) for all that we treasure: faith, self-reliance, family, art and culture. And perhaps cheese.
